S.W. Dinge

Artist S.W. Dinge, who hails from the Adirondack region in New York and resides in Providence, earned his B.A. at Oneonta State University in New York.

In addition to solo and group shows at OneWay, the artist has exhibited in galleries in Colorado, New York and Rhode Island.

Dinge’s most recent series — in red and blue, respectively — recall Twombly and Rothko. The artist juxtaposes fine, bleeding washes of color beside mixed media work: meticulous collages of yellowed newspaper and sharp-edged sculptures of splintered wood and nails.

“I’ve always been drawn to aged materials such as rusted metal, discolored newspaper and weathered wood,” he says. “These and other aged objects combined with acrylic paint are the foundation of my work.”
